Understanding the deposit account
The deposit is at most three months’ rent and legally belongs to you. The money sits in an account that can only be accessed with the consent of both parties.
Deadlines after moving out
If the management makes no claims within one year of the end of the tenancy, you can reclaim the deposit from the bank on your own.
- Prepare the handover protocol carefully and with photos
- Have a final cleaning done with a handover guarantee
- Normal wear and tear does not have to be reimbursed
- In case of dispute: use the conciliation authority, which is low-cost
